Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 19, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how dab Media LLC ("KOmpare," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the KOmpare TCG mobile application, the websites at kopulls.com and komparetcg.com, and any related services (collectively, the "Service"). KOmpare is a point-of-sale application built for trading-card-show vendors, supporting price lookup, trade tracking, and shareable deal links.

1. Information We Collect

Account information

When you create an account we collect basic identity information — typically your name and email address. Account creation and sign-in are handled by our authentication provider (see "Service Providers" below).

Trade and pricing data you enter

When you use the Service to look up cards, build trades, and record deals, we store the data you enter — the cards on each side of a trade, condition, quantities, prices you select or override, the show or event you tag, and the state of each trade (draft, completed, expired).

Usage and behavioral analytics

We collect product-analytics events about how you use the Service — for example, which screens you visit, which features you use, when you complete a trade, and basic performance/diagnostic signals. These events are aggregated to help us understand product usage and improve the Service.

Payment information

If and when you make a purchase or subscribe to a paid feature, payment information (such as card details and billing address) is collected and processed by our payment processor. We do not store full payment card numbers on our own servers.

Device and technical information

We automatically collect technical information about the device and connection you use to access the Service — for example, device model, operating system version, app version, IP address, language, time zone, and crash/diagnostic logs.

Card scan images

The app can identify a trading card by pointing your camera at it. That recognition runs on your phone, and the photo stays on your phone. There are two exceptions, and in both we receive a small cropped image of just the card — not the rest of the photo, not the table, hands, or anything past the card’s edges:

  • when the app isn’t sure which card it is and flags the match for you to check; and
  • when you correct a match, in which case we also receive the card you chose.

Alongside the image we receive how the app ranked its guesses, the app and model versions, and your account ID (so we can honor deletion requests). We use these images to train, test, and improve card-recognition and other machine-learning models, on our own and with partners who help us build them, and we may keep them for that purpose after your account is closed. They are not used to identify you, and they are not shared publicly. You can turn this off at any time in Profile → Help improve scanning; the scanner keeps working either way.

2. How We Use Information

  • To provide, operate, and maintain the Service, including sign-in, syncing your trades across your devices, and serving pricing data;
  • To improve and develop the Service, including analytics on usage and performance;
  • To produce aggregated and de-identified data about card prices, trade volumes, market trends, and product usage, and to use, analyze, license, share, and sell that aggregated and de-identified data for analytics, research, product development, commercial purposes, and the training and improvement of machine-learning and artificial-intelligence models (see Section 5);
  • To train, test, and improve our card-recognition and other machine-learning models using the card scan images described in Section 1, together with the ranking and version details sent with them;
  • To process payments and manage any paid features;
  • To communicate with you about your account, support requests, security issues, and material changes to the Service;
  • To detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, and violations of our Terms of Service; and
  • To comply with applicable legal obligations.

3. Service Providers / Sub-Processors

We rely on a small number of third-party service providers to operate the Service. Each is bound by its own privacy policy, linked below.

Clerk — authentication and account management

Sign-up, sign-in, and account session management are handled by Clerk. Clerk receives the information needed to authenticate you (such as your email and, when applicable, an authentication factor like a one-time code or social-login identifier). See Clerk's privacy policy.

PostHog — product analytics

We use PostHog to collect product-usage and behavioral analytics events described above. PostHog processes those events on our behalf and does not use them to advertise to you. See PostHog's privacy policy.

Stripe — payment processing

If and when you make a purchase or subscribe to a paid feature on the Service, payments are processed by Stripe. Stripe handles the collection of payment-card details on its own infrastructure; we receive a tokenized reference and basic transaction metadata. See Stripe's privacy policy. Paid features may not be active at all times; this section describes how payments will be processed when and if they are.

4. How We Share Information

We share personal information (information that identifies you as an individual — for example, your name, email address, account ID, or device identifiers) only with the service providers named above, who process it on our behalf to deliver the Service, and as required by law (for example, in response to a valid legal request or to protect rights, safety, or property).

We do not sell your personal identifying information. Separately, however, we may use, analyze, license, share, and sell aggregated and de-identified data derived from the Service — for example, market-level pricing benchmarks, trade-volume statistics, and category-level trend data that does not identify any individual vendor or customer. See Section 5 for what that means and how we use it.

Trade data you enter into the Service is yours. When you share a trade-offer link with another person, that link exposes the contents of that specific offer (cards, totals, expiry) to whoever opens the link. Treat these links like any other private link.

5. Aggregated and De-Identified Data

KOmpare produces and uses aggregated and de-identified data derived from the Service. This is one of the ways we improve the Service and operate as a business, and we want to be explicit about it.

What "aggregated and de-identified" means. Aggregated data is data combined from many vendors, accounts, or trades so that it describes a group or a market rather than any one person — for example, "the median sale price for a given card during a given week." De-identified data is data from which direct identifiers (name, email, account ID, device identifiers, and similar) have been removed, and which is maintained and shared under measures designed to prevent it from being re-associated with a particular individual. Aggregated and de-identified data does not, on its own, reasonably identify any vendor, customer, or other person.

What we may do with it. We may use, analyze, license, share, and sell aggregated and de-identified data — including, but not limited to, card prices, condition mixes, sealed-product values, trade volumes, regional and event-level market trends, and feature-usage statistics — for any lawful purpose, including:

  • internal analytics, research, and product development;
  • publishing market reports, benchmarks, indexes, and other commercial data products;
  • licensing or selling aggregated market data to third parties; and
  • training, evaluating, and improving machine-learning and artificial-intelligence models, whether developed by us or by third parties we work with.

These rights are perpetual and survive termination of your account. We will not attempt to re-identify aggregated and de-identified data, and we will not knowingly share it in a way that we expect would allow a recipient to do so.

6. Data Retention

We retain account, trade, and pricing data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. We may retain certain information for longer when required to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize the associated personal data on a reasonable schedule, subject to the same exceptions.

7. Security

We use commercially reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information we process — including encryption in transit, restricted access to production systems, and use of established cloud and authentication providers. No system is perfectly secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security of information transmitted to or stored by the Service.

8. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal information, including the right to access, correct, or delete your data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can exercise many of these rights directly in the app (for example, by editing your account or deleting your account); for anything you cannot do in the app, contact us using the details below and we will respond consistent with applicable law.

California residents

If you are a California resident, you may have additional rights under California law, including the right to know what personal information we collect about you, to request deletion of that information, and to opt out of any "sale" or "sharing" of personal information as those terms are defined under California law. We do not sell personal information that identifies you as defined under California law. Our use, licensing, and sale of aggregated and de-identified data, as described in Section 5, is outside the scope of that opt-out because such data does not, on its own, reasonably identify you. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below.

9. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in jurisdictions where that is the applicable age), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

10. International Users

The Service is operated from the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above and, when changes are material, take reasonable steps to notify you (for example, by an in-app notice or by email). Your continued use of the Service after the changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
